With the release of the Dragon Fruit upgrade (ForkID5) on Wednesday, Polygon, a scaling solution that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM), made tremendous progress. Support for Ethereum's newest opcode, PUSH0, has been added in the current update. This will allow developers to more easily create and deploy dApps across platforms.
In addition to fixing a minor issue with transaction parsing, the Dragon Fruit upgrade improves the stability and security of the network by fixing RLP parsing. Polygon's commitment to creating a secure environment for developers and consumers is shown in the company's painstaking attention to detail.
These advancements come on the heels of a major milestone for the Polygon network: the launch of Polygon 2.0. There are a total of three Polygon Improvement Proposals (PIPs) that detail upcoming adjustments that will go into effect at the start of the fourth quarter of this year. The PIP-18 is the main event because it defines the beginning of Polygon 2.0's Phase 0.
During this time period, several crucial modifications will take place, including the switch from MATIC to POL as the native gas and staking token for Polygon PoS, the beginning of the staking layer, and the subsequent migration. These updates represent a major upgrade to the Polygon network that will allow for its continued success and expansion.
In terms of performance, the MATIC token, the protocol's native token, has been only so-so. MATIC's price has been rather stable over the past two days, hovering around the $0.5377 mark. In contrast, MATIC has risen significantly (5.9%) over the past week.
Notable progress has also been made toward potential cooperation between Polygon and Uniswap, should a proposal for a "friendly fork" between Uniswap DAO and Zero Protocol on Polygon zkEVM be accepted by the community. The collaboration between these two industry leaders in blockchain technology could produce promising synergies.
Separately, the industry-leading data indexing vendor SubQuery has given Mantle Network permission to use its data indexer. Compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, Mantle Network is a Layer 2 scalability solution for the Ethereum network. This partnership is groundbreaking and has the potential to significantly improve the speed with which we can retrieve data on our customers. Developers benefit from faster data access thanks to this integration.
SubQuery's software development kit (SDK), tools, documentation, and developer support are all freely available and open-source. Software developers can improve their indexing skills with the aid of these resources. SubQuery provides Mantle Network with a high-volume query processing managed service suitable for enterprise use.
SubQuery's long-term goal is to distribute its operations across the SubQuery Network. The network's dissemination of project information will foster transparency by way of inspections. The unified network would make it possible to run SubQuery on data from multiple sources, including Mantle. This provides a massive place to discover.
